Clinics & Services

Antenatal Care

Initial appointment should be with a GP in ordinary surgery. Subsequent care will be undertaken in conjunction with the community midwife.

Baby changing facilities are in the upstairs toilet facility.

We are now Breast Feeding Accredited so if you wish to breast feed feel free - we do have a private room available upstairs if you wish.

Cervical Smears

Please make an appointment with the nurse midway between periods. You will get a call letter from the screening programme. You will be given information about the results system at the time of your appointment. If the result is normal you will get a letter informing you of this. If your result is mildly abnormal or unsuitable for analysis and the test merely needs repeating after an interval we will write and tell you. If the result is such that further investigation at the hospital is required you will be contacted directly by the hospital.

Chronic Disease Management

Patients with heart disease, diabetes, asthma, stroke, high blood pressure etc.

Annual assessment is recommended. The practice nurses are highly trained to undertake these assessments. We will try to organise these appointments in the month of your birthday.

Family Planning

Help on all aspects of contraception is available from the doctors and nurses. If you need a prescription for a new method you should see one of the doctors. We have a female GP who offers a coil fitting service. The practice nurses can see patients for repeat pill checks and prescriptions. If you think you might need emergency contraception advice do not hesitate to ask. Emergency contraception is also available free of charge at the NHS Walk-in Centre (for over 16s) and at Family Planning.

Minor Surgery

The doctors are able to carry out a number of minor surgery procedures under local anaesthetic where appropriate. Please make an appointment if you have a problem that you think might be suitable.

Flu and Pneumonia Vaccinations

Pneumonia vaccine is now recommended for all patients over the age of 50 and certain other groups of patients. Flu vaccination takes place annually in September to November for patients over 50 and other patients at risk - those with diabetes, heart or stroke disease, asthma requiring regular preventer inhalers.

Travel Vaccinations

We are not undertaking Travel Vaccinations at present. Please ring the surgery so we can signpost you to other services and you can request your immunisation status to take to another provider.

Children's Immunisations

Full immunisation is vital for all children and we fully endorse the National programme. All children under 2 years are being offered a pneumonia vaccination as part of a catch-up programme.

For more information and schedules on children's immunisations visit the NHS Immunisation website.
